Overview

DARIAN is a drama movie with flashback that portrays the struggle of a

young guy who knows he is different but somehow finds himself not accepted among his

peer, this is largely because of his characters which is perceive as being to emotionally

attach, although he is normal on the outside.

This movie revolves on the process of how the society stereotypes this group of people,

unfortunately involves in this particular guy’s life. His life changes when he meets with the right person at the right moment that leads him to a decision, ultimately changing his life forever.

Tonally his world is melancholic, beginning each day where his hopes seem to dissipate. But the tone changes as he becomes more daring.

Character Set-Up

DARIAN is our main character; he would always feel that he is all alone; lingering at the back of his mind is how he’s going to end his life. But he also feels that there’s more to life. Chaos seems to be happening in the family because ALAN his father couldn’t accept the gossips that are currently going around his neighborhoods. Given that he’s arrested twice, an alcoholic and unemployed. He abuses his family often in particular TRISHA his wife and also his other children SAM and EMILY. Darian on the other hand constantly face abuse by his father to the point of losing his esteem. He can’t seem to relate to people he is treated as the son of a scumbag by the neighborhood and no one wants to be with him.

The Story

Evening

DARIAN an unhappy boy walks back from school in the evening just as his mother and

sister are busy preparing and dressing the dining table for dinner, already they are late in

doing so for ALAN who is Darian’s father. He will usually beat them up if things don’t go his ways.

Darian hated him very much. TRISHA who is Darian’s mother, call out to him to come

and help the chores, he acts like he don’t care but eventually heed to in. The only person

who is not doing anything is SAM, who is Darian’s younger brother. He is playing

outside when the rain suddenly falls. EMILY Darian’s sister quickly run out to the door

and shout for Sam to come into the house but he refuse to listen. Trisha couldn’t stand her

youngest son misbehavior immediately cease his doings and demanded Sam to come into

the house. Trisha putting down her plate hard (BANG)

Trisha hasn’t manage to finish her words when there is a harsh sound of door open

(BOOM), a man walks into the house with the smell of alcohol in his shirt. He yells out

“TRISHA, TRISHA WHERE ARE YOU. GET ME A GLASS OF VODKHA; YOU

HIDE IN THE DRAWER DIDN’T YOU”. Trisha runs out to meet with his husband. His cold eyes look straight into Trisha eyes while hers are swelling with tears,

upon seeing a kissing lipstick stain on the collar of her husband.

Trisha can’t take it anymore and blurted out at first silently she say “How can you do this to me?” and then she repeated that phrase over and over again screaming, with anger raging in the drunken old man, he start to slap Trisha and as she fell onto the floor; he  kick her. Sam upon hearing the commotion runs as fast as he could and upon reaching the porch, he tries to sneak into the house through the back door

Through one of the window frames he sees with terror in his heart the whole thing that’s

happening. He couldn’t take it and he runs back to the front door trying to end the abuse

on his mother, to no avail instead he becomes the next scapegoat for his father to

continue permeates his harsh abuse. At the moment, Darian and Emily who are listening

below the staircase, run out and try to chase that drunken man off, Darian throws plates

and bowl (CLANK… CLANK) at him while Emily threatens to dial 911.Alan back off

and leave the house but not without humiliating Darian to the point where Darian feels

angry for himself.  Alan leaves the house

We see: Darian sitting on the ally in his school, all alone daydreaming, accidentally ANDREAN a muscular guy with a karate background and a bunch of his gang appear to him and start to tease him with stupid name

then one of them started to push him. A fight ensues, Andrean using his fist to punch Darian but he manages to skip the first bash, in the process Darian is injure with a black eyes. Andrean is not satisfy, he wants to hurt Darian more but one of his friends warn him of the headmaster’s footstep and he later hear it too….(TACK…TACK….TACK) Andrean and his friends quickly run away and Darian too hide behind the staircase of his ally only to realize later that person is actually… his school cleaner.

Darian walks back to his home, but he does not dare to enter the house for fear he would disappoint his poor mother again, he try to sneak into the house through the window of lower floor room but just as he manage to crawl into the room suddenly the mother from no where appear in front of him and he has to confront her by telling her a lies. Her mother however knows he is lying because she heard her next door neighbor scolding their kid with torn clothes on.

Darian is asks to buy things for his mother. Passing through the way to the store, he seems to notice that everyone is looking at him with a weird look. He tries to talk himself calm. Reaching the store he can’t seem to focus, with hands trembling he browse through the goods but can’t remember what he wanted to buy. He leaves the store abruptly and again he meets the weird faces around him.

Darian RUN as fast as he could but he just couldn’t take it, he reach a park and sit under a tree crying softly to himself that’s when a old man comes in. The old man comforted him and the only thing that’s weird is that the next thing he disappear. On that tree he sees an ad and he….

Darian goes to the theme park alone. He’s fighting his anxiety, sweats dropping to his cheeks. He looks around but this time he couldn’t see any faces that scare him. He calm down and manage to play around the merry go round and there he accidentally bump into another guy ANDREW who is a plastic surgeon, they become good friends. Andrew advice him to have a full sex change, at first Darian resisted that idea but finally giving to it but not with a full sex change

TWO YEARS later Darian graduate from high school, he wants to further his studied but that dream smash because his mother couldn’t support him while his father never returns back since the whole incidence. Darian in the mean time has been secretly taking hormone to make him feel more feminine, his studies though is a flop, he only manage to get third class honor, an embarrassment to his family while he becomes the main topic in his neighborhood top gossip list. Darian’s moves away…

We see people lining up to a night club, the club’s patron checking their I.D. Strange thing happen, the patron let Darian in with a small grin but without checking his I.D. Darian at this time shows obvious sign of feminism, in fact he is wearing male tight fitting clothes while buying condom on the way to the club. Inside though he is suffering, overwhelmed of his stress with no tears to cry anymore he longs to be use by everyman he meets. But something happen that night…

Darian’s wakes up again to find his food is on the table beside him, beside it is a letter leave by Andrew. He read it and tears start falling again, Andrew is in love with Darian but because both are men, he decided to leave Darian forever or until….he changes his sex.

Darian browse through the clothing section, he chose several clothes and is waiting at the fitting room to try it out when he meet a lovely young couple. The couple has a little chat going on and Darian realize that’s what he wants all along. It becomes shocking for Darian to discover that one of the couple has once been a guy.

Darian once again get himself drunk, lying on the couch he tries dialing Andrew’s cell phone number but no one pick it up. He decided to go to the club that they meet before…with the hope of seeing him.

Adriana is at bed resting, Andrew all happy faces comes in from the door, bringing food for Adriana. They both chat and laugh, it all changes as Andrew tells Adriana he has to leave home for a while…away from the USA, he receive compulsory roll called to serve as a doctor in the military camp in the current war torn state of Iraq.

Adriana receive a mail from the defense department and she cry when she read it, the temporary tent which Andrew serve as a doctor has been bombarded by insurgents. Andrew in order to save the others has return to the building seconds before it’s collapse. His body cannot be identify.

Adriana seeks solace in her new friend’s home. Joe and Missy are both careful and sensitive during this hour. Adriana does not want to trouble them decided to move back to her apartment when one day after three weeks from the time she receive a surprise…..

what happen to andrew..1) Plot hole , 2) I will add later….so that’s one of the problem…, the revision and update of this film treatment is still going on..judt no time to update…I think and decided many mistake exist that I need to change …..to increase the plot intensity and cover up lot hold and storyline remake. Scene 1 should be a mundane scene of 3 character more like an introductory to the characters involved the object is Maggi mee the subject is H to D then M and H.

H: Eh I heard u might be having a chance to shoot ur own film ar? It’s not UTAR Sponsor wan rite

D: No la where got. I shoot film also sponsor myself..why you want to sponsor me?

H: Chech I where got such money, I everyday makan Maggi mee.

At this point M comes in carrying a bowl of Maggi mee, while she was sitting down on her table..

H: Wah look excedingly Delicious ah

H moved in quickly and grabhold of M’s chopstick and M eyes stare at him.

M: Hey! can you get your own chopstick and Please next time use your own bowl!

H: Sorry Miss M!

D: His mouth water if there’s even the smell of Maggi mee around.

H: Eh! I don’t know what is you all "punya" problem. I just like to eat Maggi mee mah!

M: Ya lah yalah I know you like to eat Maggi mee.

M goes to the kitchen and get a pack of Maggi mee for H

M: Just remember next time har if u want to eat, cook youself, wash yourself and make sure everything is in proper place ok

Flashback to H younger days

L: H get your butt in here! This time young man I have had enough with you pack your things and get out of my resident. Get out, go get out this instance.

H: But this place belongs to my father and mother too

L: Well Open your eyes Boy! What can you see?

H see only the 4 old broken walls surrounding Him.

L:Now tell me where’s your parent.They abandon you!

H: Who…Who are you?(Ok kai po-Whispering in the heart)

L:  What! who…who am I..I tell you who the hell I am. I am your landlord! Your parent had not given me rent yet for 3 months already…Tell me where are they Boy?

L alone in the street its getting dark and he is hungry and cold.Suddenly there’s a stall selling Chinese  "mee" he walks towards there

L: Wah,its so delicious(Intrapersonal)

H:Yes boy what do you want?

L point his finger to the bowl of Chinese Mee that a customer is eating.

H: Oh, you want to eat my specials? Do you have any money?

H is starting the fire and cooking his famous Chinese Mee

L : No, but I can help you wash dishes?Please sir,I had no eaten since morning

H: I don’t need an  extra dish washer man.

H pointing to 3 indonesian workers washing dishes

H: Here you go, a free bowl for you to eat. Look at the sky above? What do you see?

L mendongak ke atas langit.  meraba-raba rambutnya

H grinning

H: No stars, tonight its going to rain. You better finish your Chinese "Mee" and get going before you get wet.

L: Ok, Thank You sir.. thank you so much.

L sit at the side of a concreate next to a monsoon drain. As he is going to finish his last spoon of chinese Mee, a young man stop by the stall and then more appear.His clothes catch L’s attention it say "Cool teen" follow by the tag line"Help us to Help You"

Y: Hi! How are you. May I know your name?

L: My name ….My name(Rain drop falling down, as L and the rest look upward the sky heavy downpour begin)

A van pass by and Y grab L’s hand and pull him in, L look back at the slowly fading stall as the van speed off.

L : Who are you? Where are you bringing me.

Y: Don’t worry, you will be safe with us. I am bringing you to a mansion where more of your kind are enjoying their life there.

L: But you still haven’t told me your name and where are we actually going ?

Y: There’s still a long journey, sleep now all your question will be answer when we reach there.

Y observes L touching his throat, Y then take a bottle of water that’s been doctored.

Y: Here drink this.

L: Oops, I am deeply sorry. I drop it.

Y: Oh! Never mind there’s another bottle.

Y taking one more bottle for himself

(Sub scene- on the way R drives, while he try to reach for his water bottle he accidentally drop his unseal package of tablet into the drinks and

L drink it and falls asleep within the first gulp, while Y feeling warm and looking confuse and high.

Scene 3

Y shaking his head so strong, not knowing his taking estacy from the drink manage to wake L up for a while confuse before L close her eyes why Y pass out.Daybreak comes and the ray of light shoot through the window of the van

Y: Where am we? What Happen…oh my head….

L and Ytouching their heads

R: Good morning Sunshine. We’ll reach our destination in about half an hour time

L: What? What’s are you saying?

R: You two obviously don’t remember do u? But at least the water bottle works.

L:What water bottle?

Y still looking stupid, try to wonder how he goes high the night before.

Y: It’s nothing, just plain water

L look out and manage to see the beautiful building and Bangalow. A sudden turn, he saw how a young girl is being lured by older guys. She was shook.

L panic but quickly devise a plan to get out of the van.

L: Hey Mister,  how do I call you again? I need to use the toilet. It’s a woman thing you know…

Y looking at L thoughtfully and looking at his watch.

Y: Well, can’t you hold for another(beat) half an hour, we’ll reach soon and you’ll have a big bathroom for yourself.

L: No! I cannot hold already I must let go and if this van don’t stop this instance I let go here in front of u.

Y: R stop the van Now, come out and open the door for us.

The Driver;R came to an abrupt stop on a lane next to a river. He loaded his pocket with a gun and proceed to open the door.

Y: I’ll need to wait here(beat), I’m waiting for a very important called for your arrangement there… you get me(Beat) Anyway,R will accompany you in case you lost your way..it just normal procedure..

L looking at R suspiciously

L: Fine with me. But don’t you dare take a peek

R wicked grinning to Y

L get down the van while R nooded his head to Y as though he knows the normal procedures.

L and R walks along the bank of river until L find a spot she would like to ease abroad.

L: Stop here. You stay here. I am going into the bush there.

R: Fine with me. Just be careful you know(Beat) of the snakes and all the creepy things that you can find there.

L acts like she doesn’t care what R is saying

L: Hey, look I just saw something moving…there..can you see it

R: Where, what’s that ? I didn’t see anything….

R looking curious and suddenly L run into the bush

R: Hey stop, you’ll get lost there…wait for me

                                                                   Above seem predictable so will change in terms of sequence..now very fan..too much feeling and emotions, no wonder script writer can go crazy hahahahaha and so lonely.

Introduction about the writer

   I am a broadcasting student currently studying in University Tunku Abdul Rahman; I am in my 2 year of the 3 semester. I hope to be a successful broadcaster or a writer someday; this is an essay that I want to write with the hope it can improve my English writing skills. Derishat Shalom (Regards in Hebrew).              Money is considered as one of the most important thing in life. This is so true because we are living in a world where everything in the physical sense can only be bought with money and money in one way lead us to experience pleasure. The question is how much money we can make to acquire this pleasure. Oh, they definitely do not come in cheap.

           I read and heard people talk about investing in stock market, and yes some do make it to the top but majority losses a lot of money, some even have to declare bankruptcy from that activity. Some decided to play smart but still take big risk such as investing in bond, yes they do earn but not a lot consider the amount being invested and the duration of time needed to generate back the profit, while some bonds ended prematurely.

        But wait a minute, the second paragraph refers to people who at the minimum acquire knowledge on how to manage their finances and are normally educated, so it is safe to make a conclusion that they only thing that stand out between those who make it and those who don’t  are their  knowledge & experiences + a lot of good luck.

      For a generation that’s older than us, they prefer instead to buy 4D; there is a term for this in English and its call betting. And that’s the worst investment a person could ever make, I said so because it doesn’t rely on knowledge but a fortune of good luck. But the thing is they have the capacity to buy more since the investment is consider menial  in term of skill and cost require.

    What I discover though is that a lot of time, people talks a lot about making money, but many times when we talk about making money we don’t have something to offer, and it is not just referring to anything that we can sell, that would be no different than to be compare to a boy learning to sell Ice Kacang by the road side. I would suggest instead to people who are interested in making money, to focus first on the material that they can offer, question such as how far I can offer with what I have in hand? How does my business reach the needs and targets of the market? Can my material expand in time or how innovative and adaptive can it be to the fluctuating business environment?

    I believe that in making money, there is no short cut. To achieve success at the minimum would require pain if not gain.  I believe first we need to really be an expert in what we can offer and really able to grasp it to the core in as little time as possible. But beware it’s require a lot of patient and the “not giving up” attitude in order to master a business skill

     As a conclusion, I just want to emphasis again that we shouldn’t focus too much on making money rather we should focus on how to make money that’s more important.
